A ballot initiative will appear on the May 5 election asking voters to approve an increase in the city income tax rate from 2.50% to 2.75%. This would increase the tax rate by 0.25%.
The purpose of the proposed increase is to help fund the construction of a new public safety facility and city hall. The project would provide a modern facility to house the police department, fire department, and city hall administrative offices.
City income tax does not apply to retirement income. If your income comes from retirement sources, this proposal would not increase your city taxes.
