About the Ravenna Police Department
The Ravenna City Police Department proudly serves the 11,500+ citizens of the City of Ravenna, with a staff of 27 sworn Law Enforcement Officers and 11 Communications Officers. The department is equipped with a state of the art computer aided dispatch system, mobile data terminals, enhanced 911, and other advanced technology to better serve its citizens. Our officers answer over 20,000 calls for service each year ranging from public assists such as vehicle lockouts to more serious criminal offenses such as assaults, burglaries and robberies. In case of more serious tactical incidents, the department belongs to Metro Swat which is a multi-jurisdictional agency that further enhances our response capabilities. The department works with a Federal Task Force through the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency), which investigates illegal drug activity in Ravenna and throughout the county.

Our department works every day to protect and serve the people of Ravenna with professionalism, fairness, and respect. We focus on preventing crime, addressing concerns quickly, and creating a safe environment for everyone who lives, works, or visits our city.

As Chief of Police, serving Ravenna is more than just a job – it’s personal. I was born and raised here. I take great pride in leading the dedicated men and women of the Ravenna Police Department, and I am fully committed to supporting them and the citizens we are honored to protect.

What a SPOOKTACULAR Halloween season it has been! 🎃
From SunBeau's SunBOO to the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Trunk-or-Treat, Bio-Med's Trick-or-Treat, and wrapping things up at Downtown Ravenna's Trick-or-Treat, our officers, dispatchers, and support personnel had an incredible time celebrating with our community!
We loved seeing all the creative costumes, smiling faces, and families who stopped by to say hello. Whether you came for the candy, the decorations, or just to visit with your favorite first responders, you helped make these events so much fun!
Events like these are about so much more than handing out candy. They're about building relationships, creating memories, and giving our community an opportunity to connect with the people behind the badges and headsets. 💙💛
A huge THANK YOU to the event organizers, everyone who helped bring our Halloween display to life, and especially the families who spent part of their Halloween festivities with us!
We may have packed away the skeletons and spooky decorations, but the memories will stick around! 💀🎃

The Ravenna Police Department is proud to recognize Sergeant Cris Coy, who was honored today with the 2026 Portage County Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Champion of the Year Award!
The award was presented by the Mental Health & Recovery Board of Portage County during a recognition luncheon, honoring Sgt. Coy for his compassion, dedication, and commitment to assisting individuals experiencing mental health and substance use crises.
Sgt. Coy plays an important role in our department's ongoing crisis intervention efforts, serving as a liaison between the Ravenna Police Department and Coleman Health Services. He works to ensure that individuals in need are connected with appropriate resources and that referrals for mental health services are completed properly and followed through.
His dedication reflects an important part of modern policing; recognizing that sometimes the most meaningful assistance we can provide goes beyond traditional law enforcement.
The Mental Health & Recovery Board of Portage County supports a network of agencies providing mental health, addiction recovery, and crisis services to individuals and families throughout our community.
We are incredibly proud of Sgt. Coy for receiving this well deserved recognition. His continued commitment to helping some of our community's most vulnerable individuals exemplifies the compassion, professionalism, and service we strive to provide every day.
