Parks and Recreation

Ravenna offers a variety of parks and recreational activities, with three main parks located in the city – Havre’s Woods, John Tontimonia and Chestnut Hills. Shelters at each of the parks are available for gathering. There is also a trail head for the hike and bike trail which connects Ravenna to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Citizens can also take advantage of the Ravenna Athletic Center (RAC) – a 7,500 square foot state-of-the-art fitness facility equipped with fitness machines, indoor track, free weights, cycling studio, group fitness room, and offers group fitness classes.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide residents and visitors a clean, safe, enjoyable and well operated park system while offering a multitude of diverse programs for all ages throughout the year.

A message from the director

Welcome to the Ravenna Parks and Recreation webpage!

Our talented staff at Ravenna Parks and Recreation is committed to enhancing the quality of life for the residents of Ravenna and surrounding communities. Through recreation, both active and passive, we have an opportunity to make a positive impact in shaping the fabric of this city.

The Department manages three parks, which include shelters, playgrounds, skate park, ball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, the new pickle-ball court, a new cross country trail, as well as the Ravenna Athletic Center. I invite you to enjoy any one of our great facilities with your friends and families.

Our staff is dedicated to bringing sports and programs to the youth of our community. With four children of my own, all very active in sports, from preschool all the way through their college years, I personally know the impact team sports and programs can have in a child’s life. The memories are priceless and the friendships made are everlasting. My hope is that, through Parks and Rec, you will create treasured memories of your own.

Our number one priority is satisfying and serving the recreational needs of our residents and visitors. With this in mind, every employee in our department works hard every day to accomplish these goals. We value your input regardless of the message; good or bad. If you would like to make a donation, volunteer or have suggestions please contact me directly at judy.watkins@ravennaoh.gov or call 330-296-2864.

See you at the Parks!
