About the Ravenna Police Department
The Ravenna City Police Department proudly serves the 11,500+ citizens of the City of Ravenna, with a staff of 27 sworn Law Enforcement Officers and 11 Communications Officers. The department is equipped with a state of the art computer aided dispatch system, mobile data terminals, enhanced 911, and other advanced technology to better serve its citizens. Our officers answer over 20,000 calls for service each year ranging from public assists such as vehicle lockouts to more serious criminal offenses such as assaults, burglaries and robberies. In case of more serious tactical incidents, the department belongs to Metro Swat which is a multi-jurisdictional agency that further enhances our response capabilities. The department works with a Federal Task Force through the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency), which investigates illegal drug activity in Ravenna and throughout the county.

The Ravenna Police Department is partnering with the Ohio State Highway Patrol โ Portage Post for a Traffic Safety Enforcement Campaign taking place July 20 through July 25 throughout the City of Ravenna.
During this campaign, officers and troopers will be focusing on: ๐ฑ Distracted Driving ๐ถ Pedestrian Safety
Our goal is simple: to reduce crashes, prevent injuries, and keep everyone traveling safely throughout our community.
Drivers are reminded to: โข Put the phone down and stay focused on the road. โข Watch for pedestrians at crosswalks and intersections. โข Obey posted speed limits and all traffic laws. โข Help make Ravenna's streets safer for everyone.
Whether you're behind the wheel, walking, or riding a bicycle, we all play a role in traffic safety.
Let's work together to make this a safe week, and a safe summer for everyone in Ravenna.

Here's an idea. Enforce the laws of the road. Running red lights, not stopping at stop signs, excessive speed, tailgating, etc. It's the wild wild west out there. โMy deepest thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of everyone devastated by the horrific tragedy in Rittman. โOur hearts completely break first and foremost for the two innocent victims who were tragically lost inside the home during this violent domestic disturbance. We lift up their families and loved ones who are facing an unimaginable pain today. โWe also honor and pray for the heroic Rittman police officer who was killed in the line of duty while responding to that call for help, as well as the two wounded officers and the Wayne County Sheriff's K9 who were injured trying to protect that home. Sending special prayers to the Rittman Police Department, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, and all of the fallen officer’s colleagues and co-workers who are mourning a dedicated public servant. โPlease join me in keeping the loved ones of all four of the victims, the wounded officers, and our entire local community in your deepest thoughts.
