About the Ravenna Police Department

The Ravenna City Police Department proudly serves the 11,500+ citizens of the City of Ravenna, with a staff of 27 sworn Law Enforcement Officers and 11 Communications Officers. The department is equipped with a state of the art computer aided dispatch system, mobile data terminals, enhanced 911, and other advanced technology to better serve its citizens. Our officers answer over 20,000 calls for service each year ranging from public assists such as vehicle lockouts to more serious criminal offenses such as assaults, burglaries and robberies. In case of more serious tactical incidents, the department belongs to Metro Swat which is a multi-jurisdictional agency that further enhances our response capabilities. The department works with a Federal Task Force through the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency), which investigates illegal drug activity in Ravenna and throughout the county.

A Message from the Chief

Our department works every day to protect and serve the people of Ravenna with professionalism, fairness, and respect.ย  We focus on preventing crime, addressing concerns quickly, and creating a safe environment for everyone who lives, works, or visits our city.

Strong connections with our community are the heart of what we do.ย  Through open communication, problem-solving, and a commitment to community policing, we aim to build trust and work side-by-side with our residents.ย  If you have a question, concern, or idea, we want to hear from you.

As Chief of Police, serving Ravenna is more than just a job – it’s personal.ย  I was born and raised here.ย  I take great pride in leading the dedicated men and women of the Ravenna Police Department, and I am fully committed to supporting them and the citizens we are honored to protect.

Sincerely,
Jake Smallfield
Chief of Police

๐Ÿ“ข Community Invitation: Tour Your Ravenna Safety Facilities

Ravenna residents: you're invited to take a firsthand look at the buildings that serve as the backbone of your public safety services.

๐Ÿ—“ Saturday, April 18
โฐ 10:00 AM โ€“ 12:00 PM
๐Ÿ“ Current Police, Fire, and City Hall Facilities

As our city considers a 0.25% income tax levy on the May 5, 2026 ballot to fund a new, combined Safety Center, we believe itโ€™s important for you to see the current conditions for yourself.

What youโ€™ll see during the tour:
๐Ÿš Aging infrastructure: parts of these buildings are over 100 years old, with systems that are increasingly difficult and costly to maintain
โš ๏ธ Safety and functionality challenges: limited space impacts efficiency, coordination, and response capabilities
โ™ฟ Lack of ADA accessibility: our current facilities do not fully meet modern accessibility standards
๐Ÿšซ No public restrooms: a basic service weโ€™re unable to provide to residents visiting our buildings
๐Ÿงฉ Fragmented operations: Police, Fire, and City Hall are separated, reducing collaboration and efficiency

These are not just building issues, they directly impact the level of service we can provide to our community.

This tour is an opportunity to:
โœ”๏ธ Ask questions
โœ”๏ธ See the challenges firsthand
โœ”๏ธ Learn what a modern, combined Safety Center could provide for Ravenna

Weโ€™re proud to serve this community and believe you deserve a clear, transparent look at where things stand today.

We hope to see you Saturday.

Ravenna, the home of a mentally Deficient Mayor they bought Sunbow and aren’t even using it. It’s probably just for the worthless ass politicians to keep their horses and in-laws wasted the money on that instead of building fire station police station and safety building and they don’t listen to their citizens worthless shit hole.
